Do want to change a child’s life? Teach her to read! LearnUp is looking for qualified candidates to teach our reading program. You will learn how to teach reading using one of the best programs in the world for teaching all emerging readers to read directly from Steve Tattum, the founder of the reading program.
Teaching reading is a great part-time job. No degree is required to become a LearnUp tutor. If you are a student, we have tutors who come from all majors and backgrounds.

-- Most new tutors will work with 2-3 students per day.
-- We tutor every day from 9:00 to 6:00 pm (Monday through Friday).
-- We are based out of San Francisco and refer to Pacific Time, but if you are tutoring virtually, you can be anywhere in the United States as long as you can be online at the designated times.
-- We expect our tutors to be available Monday through Friday at the same time every day.
The busiest hours are 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm after-school in the student's local time (e.g. 3 pm in NYC is 12 pm in SF).
-- We are currently tutoring online via Zoom.
-- In your cover letter, please confirm that you are available at the times described above.
Your major or educational background is not the most important qualification. Many of our tutors are science majors, most are undergrads. It is important that you can meet the top four tutor qualifications: linguistically gifted, can learn to teach the program, good with kids, super reliable.
In the cover letter please explain why you would make a great LearnUp tutor and respond to the following questions:
-- Are you willing to undergo a background check, in accordance with local law/regulations?
-- Are you able to tutor five days a week (Monday - Friday)?
-- What hours are you available (include your time zone, we work off of Pacific Time, but you can Zoom in from any time zone)
-- How are your previous experiences relevant to this role?
When you apply, be prepared to upload your resume and cover letter.
